Abstract
As a result of past national defense missions and energy research, groundwater beneath several areas of the Oak Ridge Reservation is contaminated. While extensive measures have been implemented to isolate contaminant sources from groundwater, additional work is required. Dennis Mayton, DOE, will provide an update on current efforts in implementing the Oak Ridge Environmental Management Groundwater Strategy. The presentation will include a brief summary on current groundwater monitoring and treatment systems, the Groundwater Strategy, the Off-site Groundwater Assessment sampling status, the East Tennessee Technology Park Treatability Study and potential future groundwater projects. Part of discussion will include Rotosonic drilling which will be used for the first time at Oak Ridge during upcoming investigation.
